Right, one of two, keeping the positive thought that Grace was here, they just hadn't found her yet. Or safe back home. Hopefully not thinking that he left her again or any other horrible thoughts he could feel guilty about.
Jefferson couldn't apologize rightfully for what he'd done. He wasn't sorry for seeing the first and only opportunity to see his daughter again and trying to take it. His entrapment in Wonderland, making all of those damned hats, and then cursed with knowledge in Storybrooke was a hell of madness that no one else would ever be able to comprehend.
Yet at this moment Emma was willing to offer her help. Jefferson knew great power when he saw it, to turn down her aid would be foolish. If she was responsible for 'fixing' everything that happened back at Storybrooke he could hold onto the wishful notion she could do it here.
"We could look there." He nodded thoughtfully, taking scale of the place and trying to put himself into Grace's perspective, what she would think and how she'd react. She would go to the kitchen in hopes of familiarity. But a larger room for more people, and windows. "Let's try the bigger rooms? Hopefully, if she hasn't been here long, she'd keep to an open area like that." His daughter had been intelligent and incredibly in tune with her environment, feelings, and emotions around her. But her heart was very open and pure and that scared him. She wasn't a fool but she was far too kind for any world of dark energy.
He motioned with his head in a direction down the hall before turning to take it towards the greater sitting room. In fact, there were a lot of people in there. Possibly doing the same thing they were doing.
