Dora was very still as Herman kept asking questions, really not wanting to talk about it. "I expected to surprise her long enough to get her disarmed," she admitted, not quite looking him in the eye. "Didn't work."
Ready for the chair trick again, the scarf caught her by surprise, and she let out a surprised squeal, accidentally sidestepping the chair and managing to topple over. Landing on her elbow on the hard floor, she winced and tried to rip the scarf off from across her eyes. She hated being blinded.
"Yeah, that worked," she managed, struggling to sit up and catch her bearings. Herman was loads better at this than she was, that was for sure.
