Sirius started to respond to the rest but then Remus hugged him and in spite of the way that he'd convinced himself he didn't want more, he'd been lying. To cover the way that he wanted to react and give himself a minute to get any latent (and they had to be latent) desires under control, he went along with the teasing, "Best damn damsel in a dress in distress. I looked stunning in McGonagall's wear and you know it. Hell, even she thought so."
It didn't work for long, he did want more than just mates and it hurt to realise that it might still be there even a smidge. Stiffening, he surpressed it back down so deep that he wouldn't see it again. He was happy (well, at least, happy-ish) with the way his life had been, drifting from person to person and then Fabian happened and now Remus was clinging to him like he offered the only truth in the world, the only anchor around and... and Sirius couldn't help himself. He clung too, pressing his nose into Remus's skin and breathing deeply. "Don't know what I'm going to do if she isn't all right after this."
