Andromeda Tonks: disappointing mothers since 1971 (dromatic) wrote in rebel_rebel,
Andromeda sighed softly, a similar sigh to the one her daughter had just given. She knew it would be futile to try to get Nymphadora to sleep, but being her mother, she had to at least try. Andromeda hadn't yet given up, and she wouldn't so long as Nymphadora was involved. She'd just exhausted her efforts for the time being. If they'd been held in the house of Black, she might've had some leverage somehow. But this was the Lestrange manor, and her had no power there.
She watched Nymphadora for a moment, thinking of how best to answer her. As she looked her over, the painful realization that Nymphadora wasn't a child anymore suddenly hit her. She was staring at a young woman who wouldn't be satisfied with vague responses that only somewhat answered the question. "I'm not going to let yo die, Nymphadora," she said. "So don't think like that. I know it looks a little grim right now, but I've not yet given up and neither should you." She would not let Bellatrix lay another finger on her child. She stilled owed her sister for hitting Nymphadora once already. She had no intention of letting that go. "As for your dad, I.." she frowned deeply. "I imagine he'll do something really stupid, if he hasn't already." It wasn't said in a malicious way, it was just the truth. "He'll fight for us. I just hope he's smart enough not to try anything by himself. But I do know this, he wouldn't want you worrying about him."
Andromeda shook her head. She would never place the blame for this on her daughter. As much as Nymphadora clung to the idea that she'd caused this, Andromeda held onto the same belief about herself. "I've had this a long time coming, Nymphadora. She's been mad at me since before you were born. She took my leaving a lot more personal than you know. We had a fight not too long ago that involved her Apparating with me back to our old house. It's just a little too familiar to what she did with us." She looked down, then back up. "Yes, Bellatrix is very mad. But so am I. We share a temper. It comes with the blood. I'm just not batshit insane like she is." That was probably the first time she'd ever cursed in front of her daughter. But if not now, when? "I can play her. I'm certain there's a way I can convince her to let you go."
