WHO: Lily and Scorpius (with Tracey, Draco, and Lucius NPCed by Cate) WHAT: Telling Draco and Lucius the "good" news over tea WHEN: September 19, at exactly 2:45 PM RATING: PG-13 STATUS: Closed and complete.
Lily's mind had been elsewhere for almost the entire day, and it wasn't because of the terrible hangover she was nursing. She had drank far too much last night, and flirted with far too many blokes, but Lily supposed there wasn't going to be much of that in her future. Her future with Scorpius Malfoy of all bloody people. The thought made her want to scream, cry, and possibly throw up. All simultaneously. Needless to say, it was a rough morning, and from about noon onwards, Lily started the extremely deliberate process of getting ready. She wanted to look meticulous for her first meeting with Scorpius's family, because she didn't want to give them a single reason to look at her the wrong way. The thought of Lucius hexing her caused the strange nauseous feeling to resurface, so Lily tried not to dwell on it as she choose a pair of dress robes and did her hair and makeup.
However, getting ready hadn't taken nearly as long as Lily had been expecting, and she was completely finished by two o'clock with absolutely nothing to do. Lily turned to her bookshelves, but found that none of the titles seemed entertaining, and she finally just resorted to picking a random title and starting with a random chapter. She'd read almost everything on her shelves at least once, and most of her books were research or theoretically oriented anyway. As chance would have it, the chapter she choose was about defensive hexes, and Lily felt herself grow more and more uneasy as she thought about possibly needing to use any of them against Lucius Malfoy.
But finally, 2:40 arrived, and Lily apparated to Diagon Alley, looking around at the crowds of people with a strange feeling of detachment. Just days ago, did she look like the young girl who was obviously fresh out of Hogwarts, bright-eyed and eager to interact with the world around her? Did things still seem interesting and good, and not tarnished by a forced marriage with someone that she could probably consider her worst enemy?
With a heavy sigh, Lily took the remaining five minutes to find Scorpius's flat, and found herself knocking on his door at precisely 2:45 PM. As she waited for Scorpius to answer the door, Lily couldn't help but wonder how this afternoon was going to proceed...
