Steve didn't want to bore her with the details considering how complex his story could be. He left out everything to do with the serum and Johann Schmidt, since a lot of that was classified and he didn't want to abuse that even though he ended up far away from home. Not to mention, most people wouldn't believe it unless they actually got to witness it and Faith didn't exactly seem to be the person who threw all her beliefs at you the moment you offered your word. He'd have to build up her trust before getting into a story like that.
