While the woman in front of him often seemed loud and confident, at times, when certain things were said, he noticed she seemed to have things buried deep within her she didn't want to come out. No one wanted to be seen as weak. Being the skinny little kid from Brooklyn, he knew what feeling powerless felt like. If she was a friend or someone he at least knew for more than five seconds, he would offer his ear, but something made him think she would be more likely to want to bite it off than bend it with her story. Instead he would chose another high road and try to avoid the things that seemed to trouble her.
"Now that's fast service," Steve almost seemed to be complimenting, but added, "But not necessary. I'm not going to hold a debt over your head, miss." Fast money usually lead to fast problems. He didn't want her to make back a twenty just to pay him back and he definitely didn't want to encourage her to acquire 'dirty money'. If she had nothing on her, wouldn't she need any money should could get? At least she was finally accepting the funding without thinking he had a secret agenda. Something told him she wasn't the type to just let things go to appease other people, so hopefully she really did accept it as fact, "I'm glad we've came to an agreement." He'd take almost anything at this point, just to keep her calm. If she was a transplant, she had other problems than what this weird guy really wanted out of her.
"I'm Steve, by the way. Steve Rogers," he offered, his boy scout smile finding its way on his face, despite the small disagreement they had. She may not want friends, but he thought it couldn't hurt to have as many allies as he could acquire. Hopefully she wouldn't twist this around as some sort of unsavory introduction to get... "special favors". It'd be unfortunate to start the cycle a second time, but he'd prepare for a fight just in case.
