Her brows knitted together in confusion before giving way to amusement. She recalled his earlier words about trying to get on his feet around there, and she wondered if he was another person that unwittingly ended up in Red Oak against his will. She had to bite back the chuckle that was bubbling in her throat because she had to remember that she was supposed to be suspicious and cross with him not entertained. Faith knew she hit the awkward bingo when he shifted uncomfortably at her blatant reference to sexual favors. It certainly fit with his boy scout demeanor. It was just difficult for her to understand why someone would be so kind to a stranger. It was a foreign concept to her. His way around words struck her odd. Dame wasn't the sort of word people used for girls nowadays especially not men. Faith knew that time could be funny for those around here. She had stepped forward eight years. She wondered if he came from the past as well.
"You don't even know what kind of dame I am. For all you know, I could kill you with a silver hammer," she shot back saucily. Her lips curved into a wicked smirk as snorted at him. "I know how this goes, buddy. Granted, it's never happened to me in a coffee joint, but when a guy so blatantly buys a girl he doesn't know a drink, it usually means he wants something. Since this isn't a bar, I'm going to assume you want a fancy date with fondue or something that will eventually lead to sex or at least a decent blow."
Faith broke off at her train of thought, wrinkling her nose in confusion. "To be honest, I'm not sure what fondue is though I'm assuming it's a big fancy chocolate fountain. I think. Don't quote me, but that's besides the point. Just go with me on this," she waved the hand holding the twenty dismissively. He was insistent that he didn't want anything, going so far to let them consider it a lone. "A loan? That still implies I'll pay you back somehow. Seeing as I don't have a job around here, there's only a few ways I can pay you back. Which brings us back to step one."
