Since her arrival, Faith had been trying to get acclimated to the town of Red Oak. It was another small town, a bit like Sunnydale. Usually, she would complain about the lack of action or nightlife, but she was just happy to be on the outside. Back in Los Angeles, she didn't have a much of a chance to really explore and do things a normal person would, but she figured she would take advantage of that now. Buffy surmised that she wouldn't have a record in this reality, and so far, no one seemed intent on taking her in. She found two local cops standing in front of the coffee shop, but they only nodded a warm greeting to her. Faith couldn't be positive if that had anything to do with Red Oak being small enough to just not know better.
Looking up at the name of place, she chuckled dryly at herself. The name was just as bad as the Espresso Pump. It must be a thing to have a coffee shop and give it some kind of kitschy name. She wondered if Buffy stumbled upon it yet. It looked to be the kind of place where she would hang out, getting those froufrou fancy coffee drinks. Deciding that she might as well check it out while she was there, she stepped in and looked around. The place was awfully festive for the Halloween season, heavy on the orange nad black. Everywhere she looked there seemed to be some kind of Halloween decoration. For midday, it was a bit busy with people trying to get their afternoon coffee fix to keep them going for the rest of the day. Looking around and looking at the menu, Faith suddenly felt out of place.
She missed out on eight years, and she felt it right then. Somehow, the world moved on without her. The fashion was different. The hair was different. Hell, the things they were talking about was different. She caught snippets of conversation, and she couldn't quite figure out what GTL was. Taking in a deep breath, she steeled herself and reminded her that she'd been through worst. This was cake compared to being holed up in prison. Just as she went to stand in line, Faith figured out another issue. She had no money or credit cards. She came here with nothing. Well, not nothing. She was fortunate enough to have a stake on her, but that was it aside from the clothes she wore. Scowling, she gave another huff of dissatisfaction. Maybe this was't such a good idea after all.
