Wanted: One Yellow Brick Road.
The Players : Lois Lane.
What: Ms. Lane's timely arrival. It's open to anyone, but can also stand alone as a narrative.
Where : First in Metropolis, Kansas and then in parking lot in Red Oak, Delaware.
When : About a day or so after the events in Inspector Tanith's post.
Rating : PG/PG13. Can't see it being worse than that.
Notes : This isn't an excuse to have Lois in a costume for giggles. Ok, maybe it is.
Lois Lane could feel the stares from the staff of Metropolis General Hospital staring at her as she and Jimmy Olsen waited for Clark Kent to be patched up. She was still dressed up in her Stiletto costume, sans mask, and she knew knew Jimmy looked worse off than her. They'd already spent the past fifteen minutes giving statements to the police about the events of the night, but the worst part was the waiting. Clark had taken a bullet for her! What the hell had he been thinking? Sure, she had managed to save the day in a sense by her timely arrival, just like any other masked vigilante, but she knew that was a fluke and if it hadn't been for Clark's real heroics, she'd probably be dead. Instead it was Clark who got shot.
"Hey, he's going to be okay." Jimmy said with a hopeful smile. "CK's made of steel. He'll be back on his feet in no time."
Even after his own ordeal, Lois wasn't at all surprised by Olsen's ability to believe in Clark. She believed in him too, but this was all her fault. She never should have tried to fake being a superhero for a story. It was foolish of her and people she'd cared about had gotten hurt because of it. She offered Jimmy a small smile of her own. "I know. I just wish they'd tell us what was going on." Boy did she wish that. She sighed and rubbed the back of her neck. Did the masked heroes get this achy after one night of drama? "I'll be right back. I need to get some coffee."
At Jimmy's nod, Lois walked down the corridor in search of the coffee machine she'd spotted on their way in. But it was no sooner than she had turned the corner that everything changed.
The hospital was gone. There was no bright flashes of light, no moment where she wasn't unconscious.. it was simply gone. In its place was a parking lot. Lois frowned, confusion written all over her face. Not only was the hospital gone, but the sun was shining down on her as if mocking the fact it had just been night time just a few seconds ago.
"What in the hell..?" Lois took a few steps forward, almost expecting, or hoping, everything to return to normal. When it didn't she reached for her phone only to remember the battery was dead. "This is just great." She ran a hand through her dark hair as she searched her surroundings. She paused when a license plate caught her attention. Her brow furrowed and she checked another as she started walking around the parking lot. They were the same. Not the numbers, but the state. They all referenced Delaware.
More confused than ever, Lois started walking. She needed to figure out what the heck was going on... but damn she really wished she'd thought of a better gimmick for her costume than stiletto heels. This was going to be a bitch of a walk and that was before she considered the stares she was likely to get. So with a shrug to partially protect her identity, though it was a weak effort at that, she put the mask on. If all else failed she could claim it was for a party.
