Dear diary...
Elena closed up her diary and stuck the pen behind her ear. The gardens were quite, a little on the bad side of chilly, and it had been the perfect place to think. Even though she had barely written anything, it still helped to get some of the mess going on in her brain down on to paper and (hopefully, at least) out of her head. With a small sigh of something close to relief, Elena stretched out and dragged herself with some effort out of the sitting position she had held for far too long.
Cracks were heard as Elena straightened out, and she winced slightly at the sound. Clearly she had been sitting in the gardens for far too long if that was how her joints were reacting, and with an empty promise to herself to start exercising more soon she started the slow wander back to the manor.
The gardens really were gorgeous this time of night. With the moonlight casting a pale glow over the koi pond, and the only sounds audible being the soft buzz of insects flying close to the waters surface, Elena allowed herself to stop by the ponds and just look around. This place wasn't Mystic Falls, that she was certain of, but maybe that wasn't as bad a thing as she had first thought. She never would have gotten this kind of peace there. Another sigh escaped, not nearly as relieved this time and more just echoing a slight disappointment. She missed home. Jeremy was here, but it was someone else's Jeremy. The person she really wanted right then was Stefan, to tell her everything would be okay, but apparently he wasn't her Stefan any more either. She didn't know how to feel about her old life anymore.
Still, with a brief glance upwards, she was reminded all to quickly that this was definitely not her old life anymore. She would just have to make do.
