"That's all?" Seth took two steps, this time. He was taller than her, and since he'd started standing again he appreciated how he could use that. He wasn't going to lay a finger on this girl, but she didn't have to know that - he wasn't even going to threaten her out loud, but they were alone in the dark.
"Hope. It's an interesting concept." He was enjoying himself, that much was obvious. He hadn't wanted for that lately, with Anna around, but this was different. He'd never do something like this to Anna, because she was an equal, but Kitty was like a mouse with a broken back being batted around by a cat. The play on names entertained him too.
"Are you running away already, Kitty?" He edged in closer, just one step. "Is that how you stay hopeful? It makes sense. If it's too hard, well. Look at ballet. You loved that, but you didn't even try to get it back. You could have danced again, and you know it. It would have been hard, though. You're so afraid of failure that you run from what you want. It's going to be hard for Sean, of course, but that isn't the first heart you've broken, is it?"
