Maybe some day, given fewer people and different hours and more internal instigation, Sean would share some of the stories behind his personal faith in these people. It's fair to say that he had, has, and will always have a great deal of faith just in general, but this mish-mash mutant family of his happens to be the portal into which he most obviously places his stock with little to no reserve. In a way, that sort of trust is quite naive. From where Sean himself stands on the matter, however, it is so much easier and far less dangerous to place his unwavering faith in a handful of his peers and fellows, his friends and chosen family, than it is to believe unconditionally and with his whole being in the God that he was raised to know and love and defend with everything in him or even to believe in the loyalty and love and devotion of the family into which he was born.
With that rather depressing thought not even entirely in mind, more floating around in the background, Sean simply smiled and stated with certainty, "It'll get better." Sometimes it got worse first but it always, in his experience, really did, eventually, get better. Somehow. Then again, maybe he was an odd case. After all, his idea of 'better' had turned out to be preparing for a potential war
When he moved on from that, it was with a glance in Erik's direction, followed closely by one toward Charles, then back to Erik again before his eyes finally returned to Kitty. "Just, you know, be ready. If this turns into anything like it did last time things started getting weird, they do a lot of... pushing." Like sometimes literally! Right off of satellites! At least she wouldn't get that. "But yeah." He leaned in and jabbed her a little with his elbow again, maybe staying closer for just that moment or two longer than necessary, then planted both of his elbows on the table and plucked up a completely different sort of courage. "Just so you know, I'm never gonna leave you alone now, especially if you start acting like you start feeling like you're not pulling your weight or whatever."
