"So that's Erik," Kitty murmurs, more to herself than anything. Of course Charles - her Charles, that is - had spoken often, and very highly, of his old friend Erik Lehnsherr. Putting a face to the name of her professors old friend was interesting, to say the least. She didn't know what exactly she had pictured, but it certainly wasn't the man in the kitchen with them, cooking breakfast for everyone. Still, a lot of things lately had been quite surprising, so this one at least was very minor in comparison, say, to Professor Xavier suddenly being able to walk, or an alien space ship appearing above the town that she supposed she now lived in.
Then Sean was placing names on Alex's, and then Raven's faces, and Kitty nodded and gave a hum of agreement as she made a mental note to introduce herself to those people at some point. She really needed to start talking to someone other than Sean or that creepy guy over the com - which she had only just figured out, courtesy of a computer in her room and too much free time on her hands. Still, there was a big jump between mental notation and actually socialising, and Kitty wasn't quite ready for that yet. Anyway, she liked talking to Sean, perhaps a little more than she would admit out loud (though who would ask anyway, now that she had lost her handful of school friends in her sudden uprootal to Delaware) so she turned back to face him and offered a small smile as she spoke again.
"It's alright, I'm sure I'll meet everyone eventually," she shrugged and sipped her juice again, stifling a small yawn and giving her eyes a good rub to wake her up completely. From the state of her, hair rumpled and messy and slight bags under her eyes, she was obviously still quite tired, but going to the breakfast had seemed a good idea at the time.
"So, what do you make of all this alien business, anyway?" she asked, glancing briefly at the window, "I mean, it's not exactly the weirdest thing to happen here but still...aliens. Right out of a science fiction novel, right?"
Kitty laughed, but it was a little forced. Truth was, the whole situation concerned her quite a bit. She chose to see the good in the world, yes, but that didn't mean she wasn't very aware of the existence of the bad in it too, and this whole alien appearance just gave her bad vibes, for lack of a better term.
