Erik had been performing various feats of physical insanity pretty much constantly since arriving, so he was still as terrifyingly limber as ever. Depending on a person's perspective this had either nothing or everything to do with Charles, but Erik's smile betrayed no more than its usual wry fondness. "I'll look in after I leave. Just to be sure his heart's still in its ribcage where it belongs." Which was true, he did indeed have plans to inflict his presence on Charles when he'd set out his plans for Raven, so everyone could feel safe on that account. "Although he might not think so kindly of either of us if he knew I were leading to you to a life of crime; God knows I can't bear his disappointment."
Jokes! Erik had them. And as per usual they were both a little on the dark side and tinged with more truth than appeared on the surface. He did think of Raven at exactly the age she generally projected, so a person might be given to think that was why he was apparently under the impression he could marshal her around like a drill sergeant, but a quick check of his (very few) personal relationships would reveal he did that to everyone. "As an alternative to grand larceny," he continued, also letting her lack of response to his feelings on her appearance lay where it fell, "I think someone ought to teach you to fight. If you ever do decide to be who you really are--" oh, so he wasn't letting that lay so much as just lying in wait, "you'll need to be able to protect yourself. I happen to be amply suited for the job."
