Raven gave a small hum of appreciation as Charles began to brush her hair, and just let herself relax as her eyes closed. It was the small things like this that she valued so much about their relationship. Yes, Charles sometimes said stupid things and okay, sometimes she did stupid things. It didn't matter though, because at the end of the day despite anything that was happening - whether it was between them or something entirely unrelated - she knew that they could always return to moments like this. It was a rarity for her, having someone in her life that she could always rely on. It made more difference to her and had shaped who she was now more than she thought Charles could possibly ever know.
However, that closeness didn't mean that Raven couldn't become incredibly awkward and embarrassed around him and when Charles mentioned that night with Erik, her eyes opened immediately and she felt the heat rush to her cheeks. How could she even begin to explain where that brilliant idea had come from, what it had actually meant to her and how it had probably been one of the stupidest things she had done in quite a while? Raven closed her eyes again and took a deep breath. She had a fair bit of explaining to do, she figured.
"It was stupid." That didn't quite begin to cover it in her mind but it was as good a start as any. "I, after Hank and all- After what he said, I just..." she laughed, but it was still coated in the embarrassment she so deeply felt in that moment. She rubbed her face and gave her head a quick shake, then just tried to start again. She evidently wasn't very good at explaining herself, particularly when it came to explaining a situation as shameful as this. Least of all when said situation was a direct correlation to the weaknesses she had been trying to pretend didn't exist.
"I was being a stupid teenage girl, okay? Hank hurt my feelings, and I wanted someone to call me pretty," She rolled her eyes and her voice practically dripped with sarcasm. There wasn't a chance she was going to let her vulnerability show when she was trying to justify why she had ended up naked in the bed of Charles' best friend, even after the conversation they had already had that evening. "I knew...I knew Erik wouldn't think of me as a freak. He seemed like the logical choice. I...nothing happened. It was just a stupid kiss, nothing else. Then I just came to talk to you. I didn't want it to be anything else."
She went quiet, turning and trying to read Charles' expressions and manner for some kind of reaction. "Could have been worse though, right?" Raven added in a half-attempt at a joke that kind of fell flat, "Could have been some stranger?"
