but ilu :(
Anna appreciated the coolness, which said all kinds of exciting things about her (none of them particularly nice). She also appreciated the lack of bravado, since being scared was just smart. Vampires could, and would kill you. That was just ...nature, a place where bloodbags were very nice, certainly the more humanitarian option, but not always available.
And those were just the ones who killed to eat, the more exciting varieties of sadists aside. Anna didn't like them.
The funny thing was, though--she did like Elena. She was remarkably proficient at not taking shit from anyone, a quality Anna could appreciate with the slightest twinge of wry envy. It must have been nice, to exist in a time and place where as a teenaged girl she could count on things like that. Ergo: she laughed, the sound a cold trill like the inside of a bell jar. Death, like virtually everything she'd ever experienced, was turning out to be remarkably impermanent.
"You know, that's a really long story?" she shrugged, lifting one shoulder and shoving back the medusa-like mass that was her hair. "And we could stand here all day chatting about it, but you probably want to run along to your well-lit little home - you know, the place that needs an invitation?"
The lilt of sarcasm faded, and she held her hands out in front of her in a continuation of the shrugging motion. "Plus I'm thinking you probably don't care. Which is cool, fine by me--but we need to get something straight first."
