Anna watched the stake come out; the awareness of its presence meant she had to adjust her plans, but not abandon them. Although frankly being staked once in a lifetime was enough for any vampire despite the fact that it appears to have happened to Stefan twelve scrillion times lately, and her eyes narrowed briefly, swelling with blood like the flooding of a dry creek bed.
By the she stepped out onto the path behind Elena they were back to normal, or at least mostly. If there was a lingering tinge of red, so much the better. On her own she looked exactly as imposing as an undersized teenaged girl, and intimidation was the name of the game here. It was best that way; no one got hurt.
She dropped sideways out of sight, back into the trees, letting small branches and leaves crackle under her feet. The sounds a vampire's movement made when they moved with faster-than-sight speed were distinctive, and she wanted Elena to know that's what the sound was before she made her appearance--this time in front of her, closer to the gatehouse.
"Long way from Mystic Falls," she commented with an absurd airiness. "Love triangle drama push you out?"
