The Big City Beckons.
The Players : Lois Lane & Oliver Queen.
What: A certain reporter decides to go to the big city and finds something better than information.
Where : The lovely city of Metropolis.
When : Tonight, well after dark.
Rating : PG/PG13. I don't think it'll get worse than that.
Notes : Why yes, her costume is back.
Lois was doing something she knew she shouldn't, but it still wasn't stopping her. She'd spent an hour just staring at the notes and articles taped to her walls at the manor, all while constantly glancing out her window. She didn't have a view of Metropolis, but just knowing it was out there.. It was almost calling her and demanding that she go see for it. So after another failed attempt at piecing anything together Lois threw on her Stiletto costume, though she'd replaced the heels with a pair of worn riding boots Misty had given her, grabbed the disposable camera she'd bought for just this sort of thing (although she hadn't planned to wear the costume then), a pair of binoculars (just in case), wire cutters, and a flashlight, then headed out after it grew dark.
It was more than a little creepy staring up at the almost familiar city when she knew, despite the power grid being active, that the only one home was the military. To anyone else the military occupation might be enough of a deterrent but they weren't her. Sneaking off of and on to military bases was practically genetic for her. This wouldn't be the first or last time she made such bad choices. The city itself was surrounded by a wire fence built by the army, but Lois had enough experience getting past those that it hadn't been much of a problem. A few well cut wires next to some overgrown shrubbery and she was inside. She'd dodged down the empty suburban streets with enough ease, but now she had reached the worst of the problem. The largest part of this version of Metropolis was built on an island, much like Manhattan, and it had only six bridges scattered around for entrance. This meant that Lois had to find way to get inside while avoiding the troops that were patrolling each bridge. The bridges had walkway access beneath them, but she wasn't a complete fool. If the guards were smart, they'd be guarding those areas well enough that she'd be outnumbered and out gunned.
She growled in annoyance. What she wouldn't do for some of Ollie's equipment right now... Unfortunately, she wasn't going to get anywhere if she just stood there bitching and she knew it. With a grumble of discontent, 'Stiletto' made her way down to the closest bridge and was stunned to find the prone body of a guard tucked away and bound in a shadowed spot upon her arrival. With some caution in her movements she knelt down to check on the man and was relieved to find him alive but definitely out. That simply left her with the question of who had done it. She ignored the thought of taking the man's fallen weapon before she headed down the access path. She was unarmed, but it was better that way for now. Being armed when dealing with the military would just up the odds of her getting shot. At least if they caught her as is, she could claim she was sent here as a dare by her friends or something equally stupid.
Lois crossed the bridge without incident and counted several more guards forced into taking their breaks early. With a frown, Lois continued her method of checking each soldier, just to be on the safe side. It also helped that she was checking for any keycards or unique items they may have had. She wasn't sure there was any need for them but she may as well keep that level of paranoia high these days. Her search hit paydirt as she pulled a keycard from one of the soldier's uniforms. She couldn't help but smile in triumph. "Looks like whoever took care of you guys wasn't as good as they thought. Works out great for me though."
