"I'm not being grumpy," Ash was getting his defensive mode on, "I'm just stressed. I wanted to make sure we could at least be professional with the Inspector." But that hadn't gone according to plan either. Sure, it was great for Bree but now he was wondering all he was going to be known for was the pretty boy with prison boyfriends.
Much to his relief the buildings were no longer an issue, for now. There'd be another day and no doubt he'd wind up with her among them at some point. It was just the way it worked.
He sighed in defeat. He couldn't win. "I'm sorry." He didn't think it was rare for him to apologize, but he tried not to need to do so. "You were being good, I'm just.." Ash caved. "..Grumpy. I didn't mean to take it out on you." Ash really hadn't, he just wanted to make things work out the way he wanted them to for once. But as always, while they did work out, they did so in a way that most definitely wasn't his plan.
