Cole knew how to make an entrance. She would have been more upset at herself for not remembering to check the surrounding rooftops when she did her perimeter scan, but being in Red Oaks for a while now, it was clear that she wasn't the only one with extraordinary abilities. In fact, it seemed that a majority of the other transplants would be regarded as different in the normal world, each with secrets of their own. Since no one, law enforcement or otherwise, appeared ready to round them up with torches and pitchforks, she could only assume that it wasn't an unnatural occurrence for this place to bear witness to the seemingly impossible. Just her luck, he didn't appear to be a creepy old dude (although Fizban had been on the old side, but One found him more odd and amusing than threatening) and better yet, Cole's powers were within the realm of her understanding.
Grinning, she took his hand. "Evie Abernethy. Thanks a lot for coming," she replied brightly. Okay, so that wasn't entirely truthful and it was not the best thing to start a friendship based on lies however small, but telling a guy 'I am Number One' didn't exactly have a great ring to it other than egotistical sounding. Out of all the aliases she had taken on since arriving on Earth, being Evangeline 'Evie' Abernethy has been the easiest. She didn't know what it was about her latest life in small-town Virginia that made her feel considerably more secure, especially now that she wasn't there anymore, but it was the first time in her young life that she felt remotely at ease. She was going by Evie when she was being allowed to visit Europe for fun instead of on the run for once, and she was Evie when she got here, she saw no reason to pick another identity for the sake of Red Oaks.
Excited by the prospect of doing something exciting for her birthday and making more superpowered friends put One in the mood to show off just a little. Since the Mogadorian attack, she has been quietly practicing her new Legacy on her own. Walking over to the edge of the roof, she said, "That's not all I can do." Extending an arm over the ice that formed Cole's path of travel, One closed her eyes to center herself and concentrated hard. She meant to manipulate the water to melt the ice away in a slow, controlled fashion but she wasn't that good yet. As a result, the ice shattered and crumbled to the ground in a rain of hail-like cascade. She silently mouthed an 'oops' to herself, but when she turned back around to face Cole, she fixed her expression to one of more confidence than she felt. "I totally meant to do that."
