"Father and mother were both quite... Legendary" Ares said with a faint smile and left it at that.
"A true warrior should learn to forge and cast their own weapons." Ares replied as he pulled his own sword from the sheath on his back and held it aloft for Buffy to see. While the forging of the sword had been overseen by Hephaestus, Ares had been present during its construction so he could infuse his War powers into the blade and most of the actual work had been done by the God of War himself. Something Ares was very vain and proud of.
Ares snorted. "I know of this merchant that once sold weapons made of a material that looked like real steel but when it got wet tended to melt. the merchant sold a bunch of swords made of this material to..." Ares paused as he remembered this world didn't have warlords and the young woman might think it odd if he mentioned it. "Actors that were putting on a reenactment of battles. The rains came and they ended up holding a bunch of hilts with no blades. They were not happy. The point is, anyone who appreciates weapons should learn to make their own so they know the weapon can be relied on."
Ares sheathed his sword and gestured. "I have a workshop back behind the dojo and if you wish I could teach and help you to make your own weapons. That way you'll know the quality of the craftsmanship that goes into the weapon and will have more confidence when you wield it."
