Being Saturday meant it was Lois's day off, something she was grateful for, especially today. She had promised Steve a breakfast and that was what he was going to get, whether he liked it or not. She'd gotten up early, gotten permission from Misty to use the guest house by the pond, and gotten straight to work. So far, Lois had managed to burn two batches of bacon and only made four waffles that weren't too doughy or too crispy. The normally quaint looking kitchen of the guest house, which reminded her a little of the Kent farmhouse because it felt so homey, looked as though it had been in a war and lost. For the most part, Lois herself looked fine, except her apron was a mess with waffle batter splattered on it and there was a burn mark where a small fire had gotten her. But she wasn't going to give up. Not this time. She was going to get this right and- her thoughts tripped over themselves as a grandfather clock in the house chimed. Checking the clock, she realized she was almost out of time. She had called Steve earlier to meet her here and nothing was set up or deemed finished by her standards. With a loud curse that would make even the General wince, Lois hurried about in an attempt to clean the kitchen and ripped the back door open so it could help air out the smoke that still lingered, all between trying to finish cooking. How the hell did Mrs. Kent manage to make it all look so easy? Lois was sure she'd never find out.
