Buffy wasn't surprised that Anansi had up and left her without warning. She should have been, but the fact was, with a boss like him, she could expect the unexpected. Hell, she was already doing virtually everything around Allusions except the numbers. That was definitely for the best. She wasn't exactly the most qualified for anything she did there, but he had that way about him that got him pretty much anything he wanted. For now, Buffy was fine with being on the sidelines, so to speak.
Except when he left her on her own. He had promised her he had hired someone, but Buffy had yet to meet her. Hell, she didn't even know her name! "Great going, boss man," she muttered as she checked the supplies behind the bar. They weren't yet open, and Buffy was currently doing a quick inventory check to make sure they were ready and that she wasn't going to have to start pulling her hair out in pure frustration. She wasn't prepared for this. She was supposed to just be a personal assistant, not some sort of club manager without the fun title and possible pay. One of these days she was going to have to check to see just how fairly she was being paid... Unless he distracted her somehow, which was entirely possible. The boss had the personality to get things to just sway his way, but not necessarily in a bad way.
It was also quite possible that she was going to kill him one day. Luckily she was planning to hold off on that until after the possible nervous breakdown he would inadvertently cause her. Pleas of insanity could work out well for her this time around. All her internal complaining aside, Buffy actually liked her job, mostly. It was just.. different and not at all what she had expected. But she was trying and the boss seemed to approve of what she'd done far, so that was good.
