The comfort was nice; it was way more than what Niki thought could come from Rory at this point. It wasn’t difficult to see how understanding Rory was but at the same time it felt like he was being a little naïve. Niki knew she was dangerous, at least the monster known as Jessica was and she wondered if Rory was grasping that aspect of herself. “I’ve been able to but I don’t know for how long. I feel like any second things could change for the worst. I don’t want to black out and wake up to dead bodies all around me. I’m not sure if I can take any more of this senseless killing.”
Fighting through it was the part that would be the most difficult. She didn’t know how to fight that personality and Jessica was so much stronger than she was. Jessica was always there to fight Niki’s battles and figuring out a way to do that all on her own seemed unrealistic at this point. Niki didn’t think that Jessica would simply “go away” if Niki wanted her to.
“Just Peter,” Niki answered, not having talked to anyone aside from Peter until now. “I thought he should know about her. I didn’t want to put him in danger and I felt like he could help me if something did happen. He’s very capable of defending himself.”
