Eyes following Buffy and the flaming creature, he tried to understand its choice of actions so they could stop it instead of running around like vigilantes without a tactic. The hack and slash routine had its place, but with how the monster kept increasing in size, he knew that was a time bomb just ticking away. It came to him that his thoughts might be more literal than even he initially realized when the bomb seemed to stop its pursuits and focus on another course. When she noticed its slack, Buffy seemed to turn around, ready to fight, but it didn't make sense for it to halt all its actions unless it was luring them in for something.
When it started to flash colors of dark red and orange, Oliver wondered if that bomb idea was actually the most reasonable of his thoughts in this fight. "Watch out!" He called, rushing in Buffy's direction, taking a tumble and bringing her with him, he protected her person with his frame, not wanting any of the excess flame to bring her harm as the entity eventually exploded in mid-air as it charged their way.
