It was for the best, she told herself. If Niki remained quiet then she was risking Peter’s life and that wasn’t something she wanted on her conscious. She didn’t want to black out and wake up to find Peter’s mangled body on the ground, his possible death only letting Niki know that Jessica was still very much alive. As Niki opened her mouth to speak she stopped suddenly, the corner of her eyes catching a glimmer in her reflection from the passenger window. The slight differences in her composure made Niki realize that there was a third person overhearing this conversation.
“There is something wrong with me,” Niki began, her throat rattling with fear at the mere thought that Jessica was present, possibly sneering at the fact that Niki was revealing the true nature about herself. “I don’t know why it happens or how to stop it. There is this other part me that comes out and she – she’s dangerous. She’s a murderer and she doesn’t care who gets in her way.” Niki kept her eyes locked on Peter as she was afraid what she would see if she decided to look at her own reflection again.
