The possibility of being able to go back to New York was enough to energize her. She found renewed hope that they would be able to go back and find that everything was alright. She would find her son, she would find D.L. alive and together they would become a family again. With Linderman dead, there was nothing to stand of their way of happiness and Niki firmly believed that they could make it on their own this time around. Niki needed this; she needed to keep thinking that she was going to be able to be reunited with her family again.
Niki followed Peter, stopping only when she saw that he had spotted a car. While Niki didn’t exactly condone it there was no other choice but to ‘borrow’ it for a time being, their method of travel being limited to what was currently around them. While taking an airplane would have been essential she didn’t have any money and she was sure that Peter didn’t have the means necessary to pay for a couple of plane tickets.
“How are you going to unlock it?” Niki asked, her question being answered as she witnessed Peter’s hands slide right through, phasing enough so that the car door could be unlocked. Niki was baffled, her eyes widening slightly as she looked at Peter in utter amazement. “Just what are you, exactly?”
