Even though she was unaware of it at first, finding out that Peter had an ability was more relieving than it was shocking. She was glad that she didn’t have to hide that part of her from him since he was very much aware that metahumans existed. Niki remained quiet, unable to figure out why Peter sounded so sure that her family was going to be alright despite the fact that he wasn’t there. She wanted to ask him how he knew this but he had moved on to other things, most importantly figuring out a way to get of Red Oak despite the fact that Peter had failed to.
“If you can’t get out with your ability what makes you think we can leave using a car?” Niki’s words were like spitfire, her tone sampling aggravation without even meaning to.Thankfully, Niki caught her own tone, her expression showing signs sympathy right away when she realized that Peter didn’t deserve that sort of treatment. He didn’t deserve to be talked down to like that. “I’m sorry,” she apologized, biting her tongue as she silently blamed exhaustion for the way she just acted.
