Cloud felt like he was reliving his past watching the man slowly losing his mind. He remembered what it was like watching Sephiroth burn it all down. That couldn't happen again. He couldn't fail again, letting someone destroy something that was becoming a part of his life. It may not hold the same sentiment as before, but maybe if he kept this one under control he could learn to forgive his past sins.
"A demon?" Eyes finding the floor he answered, "Maybe I am a demon." The words were quiet, almost inaudible. Like the words were meant for himself rather than the man unable to keep it together. Finally he lifted his face and answered, "I don't have that kind of power." If anything he was powerless. An almost useless being.
Gesturing toward the door at his side, he continued, "If this was a cell, that door would keep you here, right? Check it and you will see I haven't imprisoned you anywhere." I am not your enemy, he mentally added. If only he could tell the man who their enemy was. Then they could fight side by side, much like he and Sephiroth did long ago. Fight? Was he really ready to fight anything? He could barely keep his confidence in himself to carry on, nonetheless pick up his heavy sword to take to battle.
