While the past would always be there to haunt him, Locke had every intention of keeping moments like this in his life. The moments when he could push aside the thoughts of Rachel and focus on other things: like laughter and friends and finding treasure. “Well, right now I think my only competition is you,” he said, with a toothy grin. “I’m glad you’re on my side, otherwise I’d have my work cut out for me!”
Their walk had taken them to the downtown streets of Red Oak. Shops lined the street and they were right in the middle of it -- well, on the sidewalk, that is. When she mentioned finding a change of clothes, Locke looked through the shop windows that passed them by until they came across one that focused on clothing. He pointed in the direction of the window with the mannequins showing off the weird, foreign latest styles and slowly came to a stop in front of it. “There, I suppose! You’d need money, though. -- And their money is way different than what we had where I’m from. But, I exchanged some of my gil for their-- dollars, or whatever they’re called. If you need any to get something warmer, I can give you a few.” Then, with a poke to her side, he added, “You can pay me back with the first treasure we find.”
