Any other time, the beauty of the Farplane wouldn't have been lost on Yuna as she stood onto her feet. The world around her, filled with the beauty of purple and pink flowers and the magic of the dancing pyreflies, was still breathtaking, but she was trying to calm her mind from the fall she had just taken. The former summoner had found herself stumbling into the hole at Djose Temple, where her beloved Ixion aeon once rested. She thought when she started this mission over two years ago she was just chasing a dream, but now she guessed the situation in Spira would cause her to once again put aside her own needs to fight for the people.
That's when she saw... him. Drifting through the haze, the figure came closer, became more visible. First she could make out the blonde hair, then the blue eyes. Her heart first pounded and then made a leap into her throat. Could it be...? The person she had been searching for all this time? Had the fayth returned the dream to her? Is this the moment she had been waiting over two years for?
Before she could question anything, she watched in frozen position as he spoke first, "I finally found you." "I-Is that... r-really you?" "It is me. Shuyin. I've waited so long, Lenne."
Disappointment rose as her heart sank like deflated blitzball into her stomach. Unable to face him, knowing it wasn't the one she had been looking for, she quickly turned her back away from Shuyin before murmuring sadly, "...But I'm not Lenne." Yuna found it difficult to breathe as she heard his voice behind her drifting closer, "Lenne, we disappeared together, but when I awoke, I was alone. I looked for you for... so long. While I wandered I realized something. Spira hadn't really changed at all. Everyone's still fighting over nothing. Still dying like they used to. A thousand years have passed and they can't leave the hatred behind. I'm through waiting. I'll fix it. This world continued to fail us and what's worse is I failed to protect you. Vegnagun will make that all go away. And we'll fade again... together! Help me do it... Lenne..."
The feelings in her heart were at a bursting point when she felt a hand coming to her upper arm. Immediately she tensed at the touch as she thought in her mind desperately, Don't touch me. She wanted to pull away. She wanted to put more distance between her and Shuyin as confusing feelings warmed her body at his touch. The sphere hunter was helpless at his touch. Even more helpless as he forced her to turn his way and embraced her. More warm feelings came as her face found a troubled expression. Who's feelings are these? Lenne's? Mine?, she wondered in quiet bewilderment.
Closing her eyes, she kept her hands at her side as this foreign man embraced her like a lover. Was it Lenne's feelings from her currently equipped dress sphere? Or was she selfishly indulging in her own emotions she wanted to feel again? She knew without a doubt, even without knowing his name, this man wasn't the one he was looking for. His words were dark and cold, not full of the life and curiousness that initially attracted her to him. Even the way he held her was cold and unsatisfying. It wasn't him. She wanted it desperately to be him, but it wasn't. Yuna had to repeat this to herself again and again to remind her heart the warm feelings she felt, weren't her own. This was not the man she loved, no matter how much she tried to dream it to be.
When she finally allowed her heterochromian eyes to open, she found both Shuyin and the Farplane were gone. The pink and purple flowers were replaced by yellow ones and white ones. Glancing around her, she felt her knees grow weak and her body felt like it would stumble to the ground at any given moment. Pressing a hand against a nearby tree for support, she felt overwhelmed by her situation. In a last desperate act to keep herself calm, she called out hopefully for her comrades, "Rikku...? Paine...?"
She paused briefly before she allowed the realization to wash over her, "I'm all alone..."
