He might have laughed at her, but some of her questions were logical and he found himself actually frowning. "No one seems to be in charge," he assured her, realizing he hadn't even asked. The idea that someone here had power over him hadn't even crossed Draco's mind until now, and it bothered him. He didn't want another Voldemort calling the shorts.
"I'm not sure about who we've left behind," he added, looking a bit bitter because he realized that Hermione wanted to be home. Of course she did. She had friends there--people who were her friends because they wanted to be, not because they had to be or were threatened into it. She wasn't depended on to destroy annoying headmasters. "But I know we can't get back," he added. "I've tried everything."
Draco wasn't as dumb as he played up, and he had extensive knowledge in spells that most wizards didn't. He really had tried everything he could think of, but now that she was here... "But if you've got any ideas..?" he offered, shrugging.
