Even if he hadn't said anything about a fireball, Number One would have been anxious in the face of more magic. The soapy was enough to put her off and she edged away from the staff. Although Fizban didn't give any indication that his staff was used as part of his magic, from her observations of humans who enjoyed the fantastical aspect of things, staffs or wands were the typical medium that allowed magic to happen. She even watched a few popular movies and read a few popular books of the genre to better fit in to the mainstream culture of her age group.
"I think I'll just wait to change after I get a hot shower, if you don't mind," she said delicately, hoping to not offend his feelings.
And it seemed like she would get around to that sooner rather than later. She thought more haggling might be involved since the amount of money she carried on her wasn't that much. It was maybe enough to stay at the average priced place for a night or two, but in the end, it was no more than pocket money for emergencies. This certainly counted as an emergency situation, but Number One knew she would need to do something in order to afford anything else if she was stuck in Red Oak for longer than a few days. She thought about trying to get in touch with her CĂȘpan, but she was tired from traveling. There was something of a time difference and the feeling she experienced at present was not unlike what humans called 'jet lag'. Whatever she had to do to figure things out for herself would have to wait a little longer.
Turning to Fizban, she smiled fondly. "Thanks for getting me here. And, you know, for explaining this to me. I really appreciate it."
