"Oh, it was indeed. You can't just go out and buy fans like the ones she had," He was of course talking about actual fans used for dancing (and sometimes fighting) though it certainly sounded otherwise. "Custom made. Even had some arcane runes hand painted on them. Lovely craftsmanship."
He ran his hand over his long flowing beard as he tried to think, a feat to be sure. "Well, can't stay here, dangerous. Might get arrested and no kender around to get you out. Hmm. Let me think." No, he really didn't want to leave her stranded in an empty city with only the military to keep her company. She might have a time of it getting out before they locked her up. He'd have to offer his services for this one. It wasn't really breaking a rule just for a simple transport spell. "No Holiday Inn here.. I can get you to Red Oak though, about a half hour from here. I hear that's where everyone else likes to, what do you youngins say, ah yes, chill I think it is. Not sure why you young people want to freeze, but I never understood the fads. Especially the legwarmers.. just wear some socks!"
"I'll get you there in no time and stop at Abby's place. Just don't get lost in the hedge maze." He began to rummage around his pouches, leaving his staff to stand upright beside him. "I know a spell that will do just the trick.. I'm magi you know. Great and powerful.. now where is that bat wing?" He pulled out an entire living bat from his pouch and tossed it aside, allowing it to fly away. "Need the wing not the bat..." With a befuddled smile of triumph he pulled out just what he needed. "You ready, lass? You haven't eaten have you? Shouldn't travel like this on a full stomach. Might get cramps. Or was that swimming? Never could remember."
