Number One made a stunned face, as if she couldn't quite believe such an apparently venerable man could make such a comment about a woman. "Right, fans. For sure. I'll bet that was a real good time."
It was also apparent that wherever she was, she might be here for a while. This didn't seem like the end of the world to her. On the contrary, she enjoyed the idea of a break from reality. Her reality anyway, which included being chased by intergalactic predators bent on killing her and the others like her, all the while expected to live up to some grand destiny of fighting to protect the Earth from these very same predators. It had gotten to be very tiring and lonely for Number One, a responsibility she felt too big and full of pressure for her to bear. Europe had been a nice vacation, but the Mogadorians could still get at her there. Even though Fizban said this was Delaware, somehow it didn't feel normal to her. There was a lot to figure out, but in the meantime, would it be so wrong to catch a breather? Somewhere in the back of her mind, she was reminded that Nicholas at least would be concerned about her whereabouts. In fact, he would probably be worried sick, if he hadn't already started panicking over her disappearance. She also didn't like to think that if she couldn't get back, it meant that there was one less of the Garde to help defend the planet from harm.
Still, stressing out about it right now wasn't going to accomplish anything. Not until she had more information to go on, like figuring out exactly how she suddenly ended up here and the why behind that if there was one. "So Fizban, is there a place to stay around these parts?" She glanced skyward. "It's daytime now, but I doubt I'll get far in terms of mileage before dark and it probably wouldn't be smart of me to camp out in the open in the middle of nowhere." She carried enough money on her person to get a room at some half decent motel for a good while. Nicholas prepared for just such an occasion in case they got separated for a length of time.
