Locke didn’t need to be told to be careful with magic. If it had been up to him, he wouldn’t have used it to begin with. But in his world, with what they had been up against, it was the only way they’d have any chance of defeating the Empire -- and more importantly, Kefka. He didn’t say anything on the matter, though, and listened to Rory’s own story while he observed the new world around him. His friend with the two hearts and the different versions sounded confusing, enough so that any questions he could think of pertaining to him were better left unasked, since it’d likely not help cure any of his confusion. He felt some sympathy for Rory after being told the other man’s story and expressed it by saying “it’s good that you’re with some of the people you knew, even if you’re from different times” with the slightest of smiles.
The Halloween decorations were everywhere in the town. Pumpkins and scarecrows and black and orange decorations covered the windows of the shops they walked by. “You don’t have to worry about anyone stealing anything from me. I know all the tricks,” he cast a glance to his side, at his new acquaintance, a small smirk on his face appearing before he went on, “but exchanging it for something usable seems like an okay option.”
Locke fell quiet for a moment, watching as people passed them. Some of them were talking into little rectangles, others were busy staring at them and touching them. He was fascinated by it all, with his eyes wide as he looked on at everyone and everything around them. “Are you sure there isn’t any magic used for any of these devices?”
