Good Morning
Characters: Tris, Doug
When: Monday, 10:15 AM
Location: their cabin
Warnings/Rating: None anticipated, but TbD
Summary: Tris realizes something's up and can't make sense of it
Status: Complete
When Tris woke up, the first thing he noticed was the smell. Or rather, the lack of smell. His cabin (and Doug and Eli's cabin) had had a smell to them. A slightly lived-in smell. The cabin he woke up in bore no trace of Eli's smell. He could still smell Doug, but there were a few things wrong with the situation. The light was striking him wrong through the half-shaded window. The cabin smelled new somehow, which was confusing. There wasn't even a trace scent of the lizards that had been here before, or a smell of Bailey. It all made him think this was somehow, inexplicably, impossibly, a new cabin. Because he'd fallen asleep (sort of) on Doug and Eli's couch. And woken up in a bed that didn't bear anyone's scent but his own. "Shit," Tristan muttered, not quite sure why. There was something up though, and he was keen on finding out what. While he knew he didn't have a snowball's chance of getting any sort of concrete answers, he was curious. After exploring his new room and taking a shower in his new bathroom, Tris dressed and headed out to explore the rest of the cabin. He could hear (and smell) Doug behind the other door, and a check of the front door informed him he was back in his own cabin (sort of) only Doug was his roommate now. Only as he was coming back in did he realize there was no cat-smell. That he hadn't seen Ice. His lips pursed slightly, because in the kitchen he found Ice's things, but not the kitten himself. Maybe he'd see if Jaime could do something about that ... but he figured it could wait until he'd had a chance to touch base with Doug to just make sure they were both equally confused. There wasn't anything for breakfast in their kitchen, so he figured a quick trip to the Keep and back would probably be all right. Then Doug could have breakfast, too. With that plan in mind, Tris headed off to do just that. He returned to their cabin a little later with a handful of granola bars, a box of cereal and one of the little containers of milk. He figured that'd suit if they both wanted cereal, and if Doug wanted something else ... well, he could go get it himself. After checking to see if he was up yet by listening by the door -- and then determining he wasn't -- Tris set himself at the little kitchen table with his breakfast to wait for Doug to join the land of the awake. |
