Jake hadn't really been sure what to think of the whole polling event. Or if the guy -- Jason -- talking back to people. Was he a real person? A bot? Some AI? A kid hacking the system and screwing around? He guessed it was possible he was who he said he was, and apparently it was a viable enough thing since when he woke up just before noon, there was a thermostat in his bedroom. Sure, he'd voted for games, but he'd seen what the majority had wanted and it would be nice not to have to use the freezer when it was hot. He'd opened the window to see, and it wasn't too bad out. Maybe if April didn't think it was too cold, they could play fire and ice this week. If nothing else was going on. Even so, he'd set his thermostat as low as it would go, a grin on his lips. He figured by the time he got back from lunch, it should be cool in his room. Since he didn't have a roommate right now, he set the main thermostat down, too. It occurred to him then that it had been a while since they'd dropped in anyone new, and he wondered if that was something they should all be taking note of. No one new yet this year. His eyes shifted slightly to the side as he thought about that, a frown briefly curving his lips. Well, maybe they'd hit that time in the cycle of the show. No one new. They'd be what they were for ... however long. It wasn't any concern to him, right? Just another twerk in the works of the producers. It was what it was. After a cold shower, Jake got dressed in a pair of shorts and a tank top before sliding his feet into his sandals and heading out to the Keep. He jogged there for no other reason than the weather was nice for it, and arrived roughly ten minutes after he left his cabin. It was only once he reached the Keep that he felt slightly uneasy. He couldn't place the source of the thought and he frowned as he glanced around curiously. Something was making him uneasy, and he wasn't completely sure what. He guessed he'd find out if he just let it roll around in the back of his head. Until then, there was food to be had, and he made his way to the kitchen to have some. |
