Summary: Playing with Powers

So far, she hadn't been bothered by the pheromones, nor really ran into any dinosaurs. She watched herself very carefully, but she knew to gain control of her powers, she needed to be some place where the mood-enhancers couldn't bother her. After last night's nightmare, the exhaustion had her crawling back to bed and passing out. "Okay, okay," she had to figure out if it was levitating, hovering, or flying she had. She jumped up, and came back down. She sighed, and shook her head. She was only wearing shorts and summer shirt, which was unusual for the woman who usually covered herself up, but she wanted to try to keep herself slightly cool. The humidity was a bear, but it seemed like some clouds were rolling in, and that could go either way.
Straightening herself up and with a quick glance around, she tried it again. Nothing. Not even a single giant leap like Armstrong or Superman. She crossed her arms for a moment. When she did it before, she had been asleep, but she had seemed to have done it without issue. Maybe it really is emotionally driven? Or perhaps it was the trigger until she could control it. She jumped up again, but failure met her. "Ugh!" She shook her head, she looked like an idiot, doing jumping jacks or something. She wasn't going to be ruled by her emotions, only the weak were. Unfortunately, in dream world, she was vulnerable, but it wasn't going to happen awake. But any type of being off the ground could be useful, once she figured if it was hovering, levitating, or flying.
"One more try," she promised, and jumped up, and it seemed to be slightly easier, she did go a little higher, maybe an inch or so, and she crashed back down, and this time fell onto the ground. She gave a soft groan, as the old feeling from her back ran down the back of her legs. She was covered in sweat, and now dirt, and wasn't thrilled. "I'm too old for this!" Not that she had an ounce of quit in her, but she certainly was feeling more than her age. Hopefully no one would happen by and see her disgraceful display on the ground. Mostly that a dinosaur wouldn't.
