Day two with no ice had been interesting. He hadn't realized exactly how often he used his power idly until he didn't have it to use. He'd flick his hand, wiggle his fingers, and nothing. It was weird to feel the temperature accurately. To not need to hide in the freezer when it was warm out. When he wandered in a little after five, he didn't see anything unusual. TV still missing, fish tank still there. Nothing exciting in the dining area. Since the games had made it back to the Keep from the last games night, Jake went to the shelf to see what was still there or what had been borrowed and needed to be tracked down. It wasn't like he could ask Jaime to go find them. Not this week. Since he wasn't actually sure who was going to show up, and who was going to prefer to do their new years things alone, he stacked them on the floor near the fish tank. Sure, they could go sit at the tables, and it might be more comfortable, but there was something nice about playing on the floor. For him, anyway. While he was content to be in charge of games, he wasn't a refreshments sort of person. Everyone knew where the kitchen was and they could get their own stuff. He did message Jaime to see if she'd bring her popcorn and popper so they could have something besides the microwave crap, and upon confirmation he smiled. There. He'd handled refreshments, too. Plunking himself down in one of the chairs, he lifted his hands and gazed at his fingers. Twitching them, flicking them, shaking them. Not that he expected anything to happen, but it was still disconcerting. He'd gotten so used to the power. |
