While she and Doug had gone over some ideas on Tuesday, the discussion had tangented and April had gotten a couple of other ideas. She was finding that they were those things that were better in theory and on paper than in reality. But he wanted to play with clay, so she'd done her best to work some clay-applicable items into the design. She knew Jaime had half-assed hers, but April also wasn't entirely doing it for the sake of competing. It was something to do, a way to play with her talents, and a way to not think about last week. Part of her had wanted to do a more appropriate remembrance of Cole, but she thought the wound was still too raw to be making displays about. Besides, what was she really going to do? Clay fire over something that was supposed to be bodies? The thought still turned her stomach, and she was barely snatching sleep at night. The cold didn't help, because her wings made the blanket situation awkward. She'd taken to trying to sleep on the pull-out couch in front of the fire, and that had helped last night so she thought she'd do that until she ran out of wood. Maybe she'd see if she could sweet-talk someone into chopping more for her, but she guessed if it came to that, she'd hunt down the ax and do it herself. Since she'd agreed to meet Doug in the Keep after lunch, April remained. She'd sorted through the box of supplies and laid out some likely arts supplies and she'd brought the sketchbook she'd been using for designs. She had added a couple since yesterday and she wanted to see what he thought of those. Between the half-dozen or so she'd done, she was sure they could find some combination of things to use to make their centerpiece. |
