And the week wore on
Characters: April, Doug
When: Tuesday, 9:42 AM
Location: the Keep, kitchen area
Warnings/Rating: None anticipated
Summary: April gives serious debate to moving in to the Keep
Status: Complete
April was shamelessly using Jaime, now that the other girl had figured out the trick to locating the lions. She ran anyway, even if the lions were supposedly distracted with their lunch of gazelle. Running, she discovered, caused some pain in her back. It wasn't a surprise even though she hadn't done anything like that since her wings had started to get unwieldy. But it was irritating all the same. Once she'd gained the Keep, she flexed her wings and winced a little at the strain in her back. Clearly she was going to have to figure out how to hold them when she ran. Maybe if she tried to relax them or position them or something first ... Pulling them up so the lower half was pressing against her back (she was pleased she could do that -- she banged them into fewer things that way) April made her way from the front door of the Keep. The wings now were actually starting to bear some real resemblance to wings. While they were far from filled out, they were definitely heading in that direction. The feathers that were going to be the primaries had already started to look like actual feathers, and that was nice. There was still a lot of down and fluff, but even that was starting to stiffen and lengthen into feather-shaped feathers. They were still grey, which made her wonder if they really were going to stay that way. Not that it mattered either way. Sweeping into the kitchen, April ran her fingers through her hair before patting the pocket of her shorts to ensure she had her glove and lighter. She wasn't wearing it all the time because she didn't want to cause an accident, but she did keep it with her. She didn't think she'd have much of a chance to practice this week, all things considered, but maybe. Maybe if the lions went to take a nap at some point, she could go play with fire. In this terrain though, she worried about setting the grass on fire. But then ... maybe that wasn't exactly a bad plan. It would take away the lion's hiding places, anyway. If things got bad (well, worse) she thought she might propose it to the group. What was left of the group. That caused her expression to crumple slightly -- it felt like they'd been decimated. Knox was gone, and a few other people had lost roommates (well, suitemates, but she assumed suitemates were cabin roommates). It made her wonder if they'd left of their own volition or if they'd been removed for whatever reason. Were the producers thinning the herd, or had people really been scared away? Exhaling, April set about preparing herself breakfast. She decided to make extra in case more people showed up for breakfast. If not, there'd be leftovers or a breakfast for a latecomer to warm up. |
