She took her time waking up, mostly because she wasn't actually inclined to see if it was a repeat of the wall situation. Where outside her window was going to be the same, except ridiculously more dangerous -- like last time. When she finally did get out of bed, she riffled through the shirts in her closet (and then in her drawer, and then in the closet and drawer in the other bedroom) trying to find one she was sure was here. She was almost positive she'd brought it with her and she wanted to wear it. But couldn't find it. Maybe Jake had (for some reason) wandered off with it when he was staying here. The fact she might not have brought it at all didn't really occur to her. Either way, she wandered back to the bedroom she shared with Mike to find something else to wear instead. After a quick shower, Jaime dressed and headed out quietly. A glance in the direction of the Keep showed that it was now undomed, and that was good. Well, potentially good. The fact that the scenery was completely different (and ... completely fucked up) was more telling that it wasn't a repeat of the wall week. Which didn't mean this scenery was safe, but it meant ... ... well, all right. It meant nothing, really. Moving to the edge of her porch, Jaime gazed across the purple grass. Was that ... normal? Did that even exist in the real world? Or did they just genetically engineer it with some poison or something? Christ, wouldn't that be just like them. It wasn't going to hurt her, but there were other people to consider. Like Mike. Like ... everyone else here. With a glance around to the forest that started back behind the second row of cabins, Jaime decided she'd get into that later. Right now, she wanted to go exploit the freedom of being able to get into the Keep without waiting for people to open the door for her. Still, she hesitated a second or two more before stepping off the porch and into the grass. Striding quickly across it, she kept her focus on the building and tried not to wonder (or worry) about what was lurking in the depths of the forest. It looked kind of like something out of one of the Grimm fairy-tales -- except for the colors. Those just ... she didn't even know what to make of those. So she didn't. She let herself freely into the Keep when she reached it, and she exhaled softly. There was something moderately unnerving about the forest. About the grass. Moreso than usual, and she didn't like it. Shaking it off, she glanced toward the request table and saw all the baskets next to it. "Excellent," she murmured as she moved toward them. It was difficult not to want to try to snag and hoard the whole thing, but ... maybe it wouldn't matter. Jaime was pretty sure they wouldn't let Alex do anything with the seeds, but they could try, right? It was the first time they'd gotten a delivery that someone here might be able to do something with it after the fact. Well, she'd share with the class (assuming no one already had) and maybe see where the discussion went. Plucking a peach free from one of the baskets, she surveyed what was in them before she moved to the kitchen to see what was for breakfast. She'd bring some fruit back to Mike, too, and then ... see what the day brought. |
