"Yeah? We can build up to it," Jake teased her lightly, rubbing her shoulder as he held her against him. This close, he could feel how thin she was and he resolved to try to get her to remember to eat a little more often. Maybe start asking her to keep him company for meals or something. He also thought she should sleep more, but he wouldn't push that, either. He did think she felt a little sleepy to him just then, but he didn't ask, or pry.
Instead, he simply watched a movie with her, planning to retreat to bed once she was set for the night. The idea did cross his mind to offer to share his bed, completely platonically, but he crumpled that idea before it even really got a foothold. Not that he didn't think he could, or that it could happen, but simply because he didn't want to weird things up right now but bringing the bed into it. She was likely going to be up longer than him anyway, so the couch was perfectly fine. She could paint -- or whatever -- out in his living area or kitchen or wherever she was comfortable.
And in the morning, they'd see where things stood and maybe do it again the next night, and the next, for as long as she needed, or wanted, his company.
