Jake eased the bag over his shoulder once she'd handed it off, and since it seemed like they were ready, he headed toward the door as well.
"Some do," Jake replied. "I wouldn't mind, if the house was big enough and we still all had our own place in it. Because as much as I love my family, they drive me nuts if we're around each other all too much." Because of course they all had their quirks and habits and annoyance factors. "It's nice for holidays and things, to see everyone all together, but ..." He shrugged slightly. "I'm not really sure I'd want it on a long-term permanent basis.
"But that's ... me. I'm sure Cassi'd love it if we were all in the same house. But she's more ..." He hesitated over the word he wanted. "Generous, I guess. Forgiving of our personal, annoying quirks. Miri's quicker to pick a fight about it or tell you to knock it the fuck off instead of just ... walking away or something," he continued. Talking about them was a little bitter-sweet though. He missed them, and deep down he wondered if he was going to survive this to see them again.
Shaking out of those thoughts, he lapsed into quiet as he followed along with Dahlia back toward his own cabin. He was curious if she as going to attempt to paint tonight, or if she was just going to chill. Maye he could show her how to play his games if she was interested, or watch a movie if she didn't feel up to learning anything new tonight. Whatever she was inclined for, he'd do his best to make it happen -- even if it was just sitting quietly in the dark.
