It was more a matter of not knowing if she should have made the offer than anything. Dahlia liked being around Jake. She...liked that she'd told him more about herself and he hadn't immediately given her a look and gone away. But it also made her...weary. Just waiting for the moment when her...strange was too much. She was afraid of finding some sort of line that would just be the end of what anyone could understand or accept.
And, possibly understandably, she was worried about being close to people still. She knew all the reasons too and all the risks in hiding away again. But knowing and managing to push back all that protective isolating instincts were two different things.
She was trying though...
"Ummm..." Dahlia wasn't sure she could detangle the kitten from her shoulders where he was currently trying to lounge so she handed Jake her bag. Likely it meant nothing to him that she had but it was a big move for Dahlia; who never let anyone near her bag typically. Her journal was in there and...that she thought, would be too confusing for most to see.
"Otis had mentioned buying a giant mansion for his whole family to live in when he got out." Dahlia remarked; managing to not frown too much at the mention of Otis. "It made me wonder if that's something most families would like. Being together still even when they are all older." of course maybe Otis's family wouldn't have gone for it...maybe he was kidding...but it had made Dahlia wonder.
Dahlia shrugged a little to her own thoughts as she moved towards the door to go back to Jake's cabin. It was...a relief to leave the cabin and, at the same time, she felt bad for it.
Mostly she just felt…tired. She knew she couldn’t sleep at Jakes but she was eager to curl up. Eager for the quiet. Even if it only lasted a little while.
