Jake glanced over to her at her exclamation, though her expression after made him wonder if she'd meant it or not, and simply couldn't find a polite way to retract it. "Same," he said instead. "We can have sleepovers when I'm more prepared," he added with a little smile. When he had food. Though he guessed what he had now between their two cabins was sufficient. They'd have to eat it tonight though in case it was enough to be swiped by their morning. Maybe they wouldn't bother though, but he didn't completely understand the reasoning for lifting their snacks.
But there was a lot about this place he didn't get. It was easier to just roll and deal than to try to assess and attempt to predict.
"You want me to carry anything?" He asked as he held out his hands toward her. Bag, kitten, whatever; he could manage something. "I live alone in the outside world," he added. "But ... not that far away from my sister. And I have friends in and out a lot." And he was over at their places often enough, too. So the isolation was odd and a little more grating than he'd thought it should be.
Maybe that was why they'd put him alone though. Because they suspected it would bother him. Either way, it was done now and unless he got moved somewhere else, he was stuck alone. At least until they decided to shake things up and relocate everyone again.
