Shark in the water!
Characters: April, Lucas
When: Tuesday, late morning
Location: the Keep
Warnings/Rating: none anticipated
Summary: April meets a newcomer
Status: Complete
April knew there were some concerns about this week, and she shared them. The water was wadeable right now, but how long would it stay that way? She was betting not long; it already seemed a little higher today. She was also pretty sure she'd seen a shark in the water. Not a big one; it was some smaller species. But the fact there was one at all seemed to be supporting the idea things would worsen as the week went on. As far as weeks went, this wasn't the worst thing they'd thrown out. Yet, anyway. It was warmer than last week, and nicer -- except for the water. And even the water was fine for now. Later in the week, she'd have to consider her options if it got deeper. Did she resort to swimming, or did she cut her losses and camp out in the Keep? She wasn't sure how well her wings would hold up to a swim, and if there were sharks in the water she wasn't real inclined to go swimming anyway. But right now ... it was fine. She'd carried her shoes with her, dressed in a pair of short denim shorts and a short-sleeved backless shirt. On her right calf was a half-finished henna tattoo that Eli was working on. The wading had gone all right, and once she reached the Keep she eased inside. She had intentions of bringing food back to try to get through the rest of the day in case neither of them felt like hiking -- well, wading -- back to the Keep later. She could at least cover lunch. Once she reached the Keep and let herself inside, April glanced around curiously in the interest of seeing who was around and if there was anyone to chat with. She didn't really think to look for unfamiliar people, if only because newcomers were more rare these days. Stretching out her wings fully to the sides, she flicked them once to shake off any stray water drops before she tucked them against her back again and started toward the kitchen to see what was there worth having. |
