Linda had not been happy about walking through water. She didn't mind water, she swam at least three times a week. In fact, even when she had walked to Jaime and was healed of the flu and dog bite injury, it hadn't bothered her. It was current. There wasn't much to speak of yet, but Linda had a tingle in her spine about the memory that started everything about her. She shut down the memory, but she did mind herself to send another mental thank-you to Jaime. She hadn't been sick in years, and being ill had frightened her. When one was vaccinated for everything, ... and in her line of work it was more than most, you got used to being healthy. She hardly ever got the sniffles. So that flu ... she hoped she hadn't been whimpering in her sleep, because she had discovered Pace taking amazing care of her. Soup, cleaning her wound, compresses to her head ... falling asleep with her. She bit her lower lip. She had a vague memory of begging him to stay near her for comfort, and then awoke with him beside her. She didn't freak, just went back into a fitful sleep. She had no idea how to confront it. So while she figured out how to deal with it, she put her mind to Dahlia. When she read on the Net about Aiden disappearing, she noted the oddity of Dahlia's response. Who would say "oh?" She wondered if there had been feelings between them. She decided if it came up between them, she'd say something, but her biggest concern was getting the woman distracted. To focus on something self-building. It would help both of them. Once she reached the keep she shuddered slightly from the temperature change, and pulled her shoes off. She hadn't wanted to chance hurting her feet in the water. Might call upon sharks or something else these people cook up to eat her. So, once out of the water, she took off her shoes, and ran her hands over her body that got wet to make sure there was no leeches or something of the sort. She could only imagine the amusement she provided, but better safe than sorry. She placed her socks and shoes out to dry just outside the door, (no sense in messing up potential carpet) and went inside to make some warm water. Dahlia may not want any, but it would help to keep away infection. |
